Cooking from the cupboard

The Sino Group team27 May 20264 min read

Open a typical recipe app and you are shown food you cannot make tonight. The photography is aspirational, the ingredient lists assume a stocked pantry, and the real question (what can I cook with what I have?) is nowhere in the interface.

Inverting the search

Sino Recipe inverts it. You tell it what's in the cupboard; it ranks recipes by how little else you'd need to buy. The best recipe is not the prettiest one; it's the one that's three ingredients away instead of nine.

From there the week takes care of itself: drag meals onto days, let the plan collapse into one aisle-grouped shopping list, and cook hands-free with the screen staying awake and the timers built in.

The hard part of cooking was never the cooking. It was deciding at 6pm.
